A haircut and a knitting project

I woke up this morning and after much deliberation, decided today would be the day to give Dylan a haircut. It’s not a decision that I take lightly, for the mood has to be just right in order for said haircut to be a successful one. Wrangling him into a chair and getting him to sit still long enough to get it done is not something I even want to think about doing if the mood is anything but a good one.

You may be wondering why I don’t take him to a hair salon and let someone else deal with his wiggling head. Because I don’t want to pay some chick $15 to do something I can do at home, that’s why. Really, the last time I took him was outrageous. It takes all of 10 minutes to give his head a good buzz over, and with some carefully orchestrated bribing, he’ll even sit still for it. I’d rather apply what little knowledge I have about hair at home and save my money.

Anyways, I’m happy to say that it didn’t turn out bad at all. Even though every little distraction was a good reason to abruptly turn his head, the bald patches are minimal, and it’s reasons like this that make me glad I don’t have a girl.

PBS is awesomesauce.

While intently concentrating on his gaming, I managed to get this picture, where you can only kinda see his hair.

A is for apple...

My baby boy starts kindergarten in only 12 days (yes, I’ve started the countdown already). We practiced writing his name for a little while yesterday, just trying to get him ready. I’m so proud of him.

I didn’t have any of that paper with really wide lines for kids to learn to write with, so I had to improvise with an orange marker. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.
